I like the clam miso soup and the grilled fish here. The menu doesn't feature a lot of unusual specialties, but they offer good value and fresh food in a homey setting.

Kisaku is a friendly neighborhood Japanese restaurant. They have very fresh fish and some really creative rolls - be sure to try their toro (fatty tuna) which melts in your mouth like bacon of the sea, and their 4th Avenue roll, which consists of unagi, spicy tuna, tobiko, and avocado, finished off by caramelizing the exterior with a blowtorch. I believe they only accept MasterCard and Visa. They're open for lunch and dinner on weekdays, dinner on weekends, and like every good Japanese place in San Mateo, they're closed Tuesdays.
